Representatives of the committee said that the decision was made in the interests of all athletes, since the innocence of the Russian woman Kamila Valieva, who participated in the team tournament, has not yet been fully proven. For the same reason, the organizers of the Olympiad will refuse to hold an awards ceremony in a personal tournament if Valieva gets into the top three.
