The press secretary of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Mark Adams, commented on the situation around the dubious doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. It is reported by “R-Sport”.
The IOC spokesman noted that the organization had already made a request to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) with a request to investigate the work of the environment of the 15-year-old Russian woman. At the moment, Valieva retains the right to train and compete at the Beijing Olympics. The Russian woman will perform a short program of the individual tournament under the 26th number.
On February 11, the International Testing Agency (ITA) officially confirmed that the skater’s December 25 doping test tested positive for the banned drug trimetazidine. After that, WADA and the IOC filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the decision to cancel the temporary suspension of Valieva from participation in the Games.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. In this regard, the IOC has postponed the award ceremony following the results of the team tournament of the Olympics.
