Gorka Izagirre (Movistar) had to retire in the second stage of the Tour de Provence, due to a fall that caused him a strong blow to the face. Izagirre has been transferred to a hospital for the relevant evidence to determine the extent of the injury.
Once the medical tests have been carried out, and as announced by the Movistar team, the Gipuzkoan cyclist does not suffer any type of fracture but has suffered numerous blows and has received several stitches on his face. Izagirre will return home this Saturday.
The fall of Gorka Izagirre has been a cross for Movistar, while the face was the American Matteo Jorgenson, seventh overall after entering the group of 25 riders in a fast and difficult day due to the wind between Istres and Saintes- Maries-de-la-Mer, where Italian Elia Viviani (Ineos) won in a reduced sprint.
