Russian skier sets record at Beijing Olympics

Russian skier Veronika Stepanova set a record at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.

Stepanova became the youngest Olympic champion in the history of cross-country skiing. As part of the Russian national team, she won the relay at the age of 21 years and 39 days.

The previous record also belonged to a Russian skier. Yulia Chepalova became the Olympic champion in the 30 km freestyle at the 1998 Nagano Games at the age of 21 years and 60 days.

Among men, the youngest champion of the Games is the Norwegian Johannes Klebo. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, he won the sprint race at the age of 21 years and 114 days.

On February 11, Russian skiers won the four by five kilometers relay at the Beijing Olympics. In addition to Stepanova, who ran at the finish stage, the Russian team included Yulia Stupak, Natalya Nepryaeva and Tatyana Sorina.
