The head of the press service of the International Olympic Committee, Mark Adams, said that the IOC supports the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to launch an investigation into the entourage of figure skater Kamila Valieva. About it writes RIA Novosti.
According to the head of the press service, the organization welcomes such investigations both in this and in other cases. “We will contribute to the investigation of the actions of not only the athlete, but also his entourage. There will be a very tough position,” Adams responded.
Earlier it was reported that RUSADA initiated an investigation against the personnel of Valieva, whose doping test showed a positive result. An environment check will be conducted due to the athlete being a minor.
On February 11, it became known that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of RUSADA to cancel the temporary suspension of Valieva from the Olympics.
The reason for the suspension was the presence in the doping test of the athlete of the prohibited drug trimetazidine. Valieva’s case will be considered by a special commission before the start of the individual tournament at the Games, which starts on February 15.
