A new chapter of the novel between the GolTV station, owner of the television rights of the Professional League and its affiliated clubs, took place this Friday. In another meeting, both parties left without reaching an agreement due to the debt that the channel maintains (close to $11 million) with the teams.
The leadership has already set a final deadline to specify a solution and there will be a final meeting between the parties next Tuesday that will be definitive and if it is not achieved, the contract with the Uruguayan company would come to an end.
“On Tuesday we reinstated ourselves in a meeting to listen to proposals for real payments by GolTV. There is another company that seems to be going to give a guarantee and there will be a kind of partnership with them to continue with this chain,” said Xavier Rodríguez, a lawyer for the University Technician, after the meeting that took place in Guayaquil.
“This proposal will be on Tuesday, if it is not resolved, we are going to make a firm decision to terminate the contract with GolTV,” added the Ambateño representative.
The entity that would be part of that “society” mentioned by Rodríguez is the Betcris brand, which is the official sponsor of the Professional League.
This was confirmed by José Delgado, president of the Delfín de Manta, who considered that the meeting was “beneficial.”
“We have found a path that we have to support in writing for Tuesday and continue on. God wants us to do very well, “said the manager from Manabi.
“There is a proposal that in terms of values and time is convenient for the clubs, that we accept it. We hope it will be favorable,” Delgado added.
The leader anticipated that in case there is no agreement, next Tuesday, the championship that is scheduled to start on Friday, February 18, will be suspended.
‘GolTV has a debt of almost $40 million with Ecuadorian soccer,’ says president of America de Quito
“I am convinced that we are going to reach an agreement, we hope that the LigaPro proposal based on what they have discussed with Betcris and GolTV is what we expect,” said the cetacean president.
Delgado insisted that, at the moment, they do not know the values (percentage to be canceled) and the time it will take. “We want everything that is going to be proposed to be supported in writing, to have guarantees and for us to be able to rest easy,” concluded Delgado.
On Thursday both parties had met, but like this Friday there was no agreement. (D)
