The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to lift the temporary suspension from competition at the Olympics of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. This was reported by the press service of the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA), RIA Novosti reports.
“The IOC has filed an appeal with the CAS against the decision to lift the provisional suspension. The decision on the result of the Russian skaters in the team tournament can only be made after a final decision on the merits of the case is made, ”the ITA said in a statement.

Earlier, the ITA reported that Valieva’s doping test tested positive for trimetazidine. The drug was found in a sample taken on December 25 at the Russian Championship, which took place in St. Petersburg. The figure skater has not been suspended from the competition, her case will be considered by a special commission.
Valieva’s dubious doping test became known on February 9. It was reported that in the sample of a 15-year-old Russian woman, the banned drug trimetazidine was found. In this regard, the International Olympic Committee held legal consultations with the International Skating Union and postponed the award ceremony of the Olympic team tournament.
