Olympic champion in cross-country skiing from Norway supported her rivals from Russia

Norwegian skier Teresa Johaug spoke with words of support for Russian athletes after winning the classic style race at the Beijing Olympics. This was reported in the Telegram channel “Match TV”.

The Norwegian athlete, who became the Olympic champion in Beijing, said she was glad to compete with skiers from Russia. “I am very happy for Natalya Nepryaeva, who won silver in the skiathlon,” Johaug said. She admitted that she considers the athletes of the Russian team to be her main competitors at the Games.

On February 7, the Norwegian press was outraged by the victory of the Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov. Journalist Jan Petter Saltvedt expressed the opinion that a sportsman should not compete at the Olympics after doping scandals.

On February 6, Bolshunov won the skiathlon. His advantage over the closest rival was one minute and 11 seconds. For the first time in his career, a Russian won gold at the Olympics.
