The International Skating Union made a statement about the situation with Valieva

The International Skating Union (ISU) will not disclose information regarding a possible anti-doping rule violation in the team figure skating tournament at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games. The statement appeared on the website of the organization.

This is how the ISU reacted to the situation with the possible use of a prohibited drug by the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. The organization emphasized that non-disclosure of information in this case complies with the rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In addition, the ISU added that they would not comment on the situation in the future.

Earlier Thursday, February 10, it was reported that Valieva would not be suspended from participation in the women’s singles tournament, and the Russian team would not be deprived of gold medals in team competitions.

On February 9, the Inside The Games portal reported that the doping test of 15-year-old Valieva was questionable. According to media reports, the test was passed before the start of the Olympics – in December 2021. The sample contained traces of the drug trimetazidine, which is used to prevent angina pectoris.
