“Sport-Express” removed the news about the removal of Valieva from the competition at the Olympics

Sport-Express removed from the site the news about the removal of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva from participating in the individual tournament at the Beijing Olympics. Initially, the publication referred to its own sources.

Sport-Express was the first to report that a 15-year-old athlete would be suspended from further competition at the Olympics due to a suspicious doping test. The publication also mentioned that the Russian team could be deprived of gold in the team tournament.

Earlier, Inside The Games reported that Valieva’s doping test was questionable. It is noted that the test was passed outside the competitive period – in December 2021. Also, according to media reports, traces of the drug trimetazidine, used to prevent angina pectoris, were found in the sample.

Initially, the media did not know the skater who passed the suspicious doping test. However, it was noted that the drug found could not affect the outcome of the competition.

The Russian team became the best in the team figure skating tournament at the Olympics. Valieva made history by becoming the first woman to perform a quad jump at the Games.
