The Slovenes caused a storm after the Kubacki medal. The Polish judge replies

0.5 points – he lost the fight for the bronze medal of the competition on the normal hill on Sunday with. It was a Pole who celebrated, and the Slovene could not believe that he was so close to the podium.

Slovenes furious after the Kubacki medal. They felt robbed. “I really don’t understand”

Meanwhile, it has begun. Because according to fans, experts and journalists, the missing 0.5 points is the result of low judges’ assessments. “Did the judges steal the medal? The words of this expert say EVERYTHING” – the portal ekipa.svet24.si titled its article. And he quoted Jelko Gros, former coach of Slovenian ski jumpers. – I really don’t understand how the judges rated Prevc. The Chinese, Russian and American gave him only 18 points in the second round. This is too little, considering its virtually error-free telemark, said Gros, a currently working television expert.

– For a telemark jump without a mistake, the starting point is 18.5. As much as Prevc and the Austrian admitted. But one of their assessments has unfortunately been canceled. The judges took the medal from him, admitted Gros. Peter Prevc received 55.5 points for his style for his first jump and 54.5 for his second jump. On the first attempt, only the Norwegian Joern Larsen scored 18 points, and on the second attempt, Bing Liang from China, Wadim Lisowskij from Russia and Dan Matoon from the USA. The rest of the notes are 18.5 points.

A Polish judge reacts to the storm in Slovenia. “Everything is fair here”

We asked a Polish judge, Kazimierz Bafia, about the opinion on the notes awarded to Prevc. – These notes were fair. Peter and David’s final jumps were even quite similar. In terms of notes, they should be comparable. And in the results everything is fair here – assesses the international judge.

– The claims of the Slovenes are understandable for one reason only. If it had been David who had been in Prevc’s place, who knows if they wouldn’t have had exactly the same discussion. It always looks like this with little variation. Such are the jumps, and there is no controversy here – indicates Bafia.

Bafia: I’ve given two “20s” in my life and one to Peter Prevc

Slovenes have long complained about underestimating Peter Prevc’s style. Many journalists indicated that his jump in the team competition, for which he was awarded one highest possible score of “20”, even deserved several such ratings.

– I gave two “20s” in my life and one of them just to Peter Prevc. I never regretted his points because I really like his style. Earlier he jumped even nicer than now, but I think that nobody took any points from him – sums up Kazimierz Bafia.
