Polish jumpers did not do well in Monday’s mixed teams competition. Due to their terrible jumps, the Polish team did not fight for medals. The 21-year-old finished the competition with jumps of 80.5 and 73.5 meters, while a year later the younger Nicole Konderla jumped 75.5 and 72.5 meters. Compared to the results of the jumpers from other national teams, the results were too weak to consider a fight for medals.
“The group rises from within”
In this competition, Poland should compete for the Olympic medal, if our jumpers were in a much better disposition.
There are many reasons for this disposition of Polish women. The most important? Internal conflict most likely. The staff has been divided into two camps for a long time.
His words were confirmed by Nicole Konderla
– There are different visions and I have the impression that the group is rising from the inside. This is a difficult situation. I think the level of our jumps and the overall regression is due to this. It is not a question of the trainer. A team will not function if the team is smashed from the inside, the players are not cooperating with the coaches, and the coaches have a different vision. Even if the best trainer in the world comes, it won’t work, admits Konderla.
She also added that she lacked support after an unsuccessful individual competition in which, after a jump on a distance of 64 meters, she took only 36th place (out of 40 competitors) and did not qualify for the final series.
– The worst time was after the individual competition. A huge wave of criticism was poured out, which overwhelmed me a lot. I didn’t have high expectations for this job. I came here to study, and there was so much criticism that one sat down and thought about what was going on. Disappointing was also the lack of support from the rest of the team. It was fine in the Olympic four, but our team is much larger and there was no support at all. We are a large group and we should all support each other, not clip the wings. Especially in social media, added Konderla.
What does he consider about a possible change of the trainer?
– It will be difficult, but that’s what sport is. We don’t play tennis in order to choose our own coach. We are ski jumping, so I will adapt if there is a change of instructor. I hope the possible change will be positive enough for everyone to be involved. You have to work in one direction, not everyone in your side, admitted Konderla.
On Friday at 12 Polish time will start qualifying for the competition on the large hill (HS 140). The fight for medals is also scheduled on Saturday at 12. On Monday there will be a men’s team competition.
