Vyalbe commented on the removal of Bolshunov from the sprint of the Olympics

President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation Elena Vyalbe commented on the removal of Russian skier Alexander Bolshunov from the sprint of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Her words are quoted by TASS.

Vyalbe called the decision prudent and professional. “Sasha is great, everything is professional. No one will replace, and there is no one to replace. Nothing, three will perform, they will fight, ”she said.

The decision of Bolshunov not to participate in the sprint was previously announced by the head coach of the Russian national team Yuri Borodavko. It was noted that the athlete himself wanted to refuse to participate in the race, since the skiathlon, which took place at a height, was hard for him.

Bolshunov won the skiathlon on 6 February. This Olympic gold was the first in his career for a Russian.

The Russian national team in the sprint will be represented by Alexander Terentiev, Sergey Ustyugov and Artem Maltsev. Qualifying will begin at 11:50 Moscow time.
