On Monday there was a competition on the normal hill in the mix. He had a crazy run due to the large number of disqualifications. In the first series of the competition, Japanese Sara Takanashi, Austrian Daniela Iraschko-Stolz and German Katharina Althaus were disqualified for unregulated overalls. In the second series, the Polish controller Agnieszka Baczkowska disqualified two more Norwegian women: Anna Odine Stroem and Silje Opseth.
This left Japan, Norway and Austria out of the competition for medals, opening the way for other teams. The Slovenes won the gold, but it was not a sensation. The silver won by the Russians could be considered a small surprise. However, the third place of the Canadian representation was a huge sensation. to the end they fought with Japan for a place on the podium and won this fight.
Canadian team leader Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes used the success of Canadians to make an appeal to his countrymen. – Let’s build small jumps and create a program so that it could be continued. A few dollars for ours? Am I asking for too much? – wrote the jumper on Twitter.
A hill that looks like it is about to collapse. That’s why Canadians train in Europe
His appeal is not unfounded. TVP Sport journalist MichaĆ Chmielewski showed on Twitter the photos of the only Canadian plastic covered hill. He received the photos from the coach of the Canadian team, Tadeusz Bafia. A first glance at these photos is enough to show that the word “jump” in reference to this construction is exaggerated. This is a complete makeshift.
No wonder that Canadians train away during the summer, mainly in Slovenia. There are currently only four ski jumping complexes in Canada: Alberta Ski Jump Area, Big Thunder Ski Jumping Center, Big Thunder Ski Jumping Center and Whistler Olympic Park Ski Jumps.
