Russian skier answered Norwegian journalist’s question about doping

Russian skier Denis Spitsov answered a question from a Norwegian journalist about the possible use of illegal drugs by Russian athletes at the Olympics. The Russian is quoted by the Norwegian NRK.

The 25-year-old Russian admitted that he considers such questions provocative. Spitsov also stressed that athletes from Norway also had problems with doping.

On February 6, an American journalist asked a similar question to Alexander Bolshunov, who won the skiathlon at the Beijing Olympics. The Russian said that he is a “pure” athlete, and behind his victories are years of training.

Bolshunov’s victory in the skiathlon was the first for the Russian team since 2006 in this discipline. For the skier himself, this award is the first Olympic gold in his career.

The Beijing Olympics will run until February 20.
