It was the big surprise of the day, after Liverpool delivered without a hitch with a 3-1 win over Cardiff, another team from the second tier.
Leicester thus becomes the most illustrious victim of this fourth round, along with Manchester United, who fell on Friday against Middlesbrough, also in the second division.
Manchester City and Chelsea qualified on Saturday, although in the case of the Londoners with a scare, needing extra time to get rid (2-1) of Plymouth Argyle, from the third division.
Premier League leaders City followed through with a 4-1 win over Fulham.
Leicester crashed this Sunday against Nottingham Forest, thus becoming the ‘giant killer’ of this edition, after having eliminated Arsenal (1-0) in the previous round.
Also on Saturday, the Kidderminster Harriers, who play in England’s sixth division, made West Ham suffer more than expected, forcing extra time to decide the match. Kidderminster brushed the dream, but Jarrod Bowen’s goal in the 121st minute gave the Londoners the ticket.
Forest won two European Cups (today the UEFA Champions League) in a row in 1977 and 1978. (D)
