The country of panda bears is currently unable to meet all requests for marketing products with the figure of the panda bear, mascot of the Beijing Winter Olympics, according to an official admitted on Sunday.
Bing Dwen Dwen, an adorable panda bear on ice skates, is the name of the official mascot of these Games, although local fans have trouble getting one of those precious ones souvenirs of the Olympic event.
With the near total ban on spectators at the events, having one of those bears is the closest possible approach for most Chinese to the Games.
Thus, demand is outstripping supply and, according to the Chinese media, it is not uncommon to see long queues in front of stores where you can buy Games products.
A spokesman for the organization of the Games explained that the supply problems are due in part to the fact of the Lunar New Year holiday in China, which coincides with the event.
“Many of the factory workers enjoy their vacations, so the supply of licensed products has been affected by it,” said Zhao Weidong, spokesman for the organizing committee of the Beijing Games.
“Now we are making efforts in coordination with the production and supply of Bing Dwen Dwen,” he added.
A hashtag with the slogan “Un (Bing Dwen) Dwen in every house” generated millions of interactions on the Chinese platform on Sunday Weiboequivalent to Twitter. (D)
