Egypt asks for postponement of Africa Cup of Nations final

Finalists of the African Cup of Nations, the selection of Egypt asked for the postponement of the big decision of the tournament to gain an extra day.

After eliminating Cameroon in the semi-final, the Egyptians qualified for the grand final, against the Senegal team, which secured their spot after beating Burkina Faso.

The dispute is scheduled for Sunday, at 4 pm (GMT), but Egypt asks that it be postponed to Monday (7).

The justification for such a request is a disadvantage in relation to the opponent. While Senegal’s team played on Wednesday, Egypt played in the semi-final on Thursday, in addition to playing in extra-time and penalties to eliminate Cameroon.

The request was made by Al-Sayed, assistant to Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, after the semifinal match.

“I ask the CAF (Confederation of African Football) to play the final on Monday,” said Al-Sayed.
