The president of the Ecuadorian Athletics Federation (FEA), Manuel Bravo, expressed this Thursday his fear that the lack of support from the Ecuadorian Government will jeopardize the participation of the tricolor march in the World Cup next March in Oman, while at the South American is leaving by self-management.
“If there are not the appropriate economic conditions, Ecuador’s participation in the World Cup in Oman on March 5 and 6 next will be in danger,” Bravo told Eph.
The director asserted that the steps taken by the Ministry of Sports, commanded by Sebastián Palacios, they were not enough to deliver the resources in a timely manner for the participation of Ecuador in the South American Walking Championshipwhich will be played next Sunday in Peru.
“For this trip to the South American in Lima, the resources were not received, no Federation by sport was given the resourcesso it was necessary to resort to self-management to be able to take the delegation to Lima”, he said.
The South American in Lima and the World Cup in Oman are part of the Olympic cycle, in which athletes accumulate qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Bravo indicated that due to the lack of financial support, the delegation of marchers was reduced to 18 athletes from the 23 who had qualified to participate in the South American.
“The delegation had to be reduced, we are not going with complete teams in the U20 and U18 categories, that part is somewhat limited, but everything possible has been done to bring 18 athletes and three coaches,” said the manager.
