The selection of Ecuador finished second in the South American Chess Championship which was played in one of the halls of the Sheraton Hotel, in guayaquil, and that Peru won.
In the final places of the tournament, which took place in the sub-8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 categories, in women and men, the Inca team won eight crowns; Ecuador, of two, while Paraguay Y bolivia each won one title.
In the absolute sub-8 category (ladies and men participate), Enzo Mathias Vinales, from Paraguay, with 8.5 points, won the championship; while Alberto Jose Torrico, from Bolivia, with 7, was second; Y Josef Bruno Arana, from Peru, with 7, finished third; Ecuador’s best position was with Ezekiel Santanawhich with 5.5 units finished in fourth place.
In the final round, Vinales defeated Leonel Benitofrom Peru.
In sub-8 ladies, Peru occupied the first three positions with Ghaydaa Ceneth Mandujanowith 8.5 points; Adamaris Luciana Machaca, with 7.5; Y Fabiana Jimenez, with 6.5. The best position for an Ecuadorian representative was sixth place in Patsy Andrea Ocampowith 5 units.
In the ninth round, Mandujano defeated Jacqueline Sanchezfrom Ecuador.
Other categories
In absolute sub-10, the first place was occupied by Oscar Adriano Coaquira, from Peru, with 7 points; they escorted him Dante Ivan Vilca, from the Inca team, with 6.5; and the Ecuadorian Leandro Nicolas Ulloawho finished third with 6 units.
In his last game, Coaquira defeated Mathias Ruiz, from Ecuador.
For its part, in the sub-10 ladies, the placements ended with Fabiana Gomes, from Peru, with 8 points, as first; then Irina Rojas, from Peru, 7, second; and Yolanda Vargas, from Ecuador, 6.5, third.
At the close of the rounds, Gomes was victorious over Isabella Alejandra Trivinofrom Ecuador.
Matias Israel Guerrero, from Ecuador, with 7 points, reached the title in absolute sub-12; second place went to David Clausefrom Bolivia, with 6.5, and Vincent Cardenasfrom Peru, with 6, finished third.
Guerrero at the end of his participation defeated Gabriel Quirozfrom Peru.
In sub-12 ladies, the title went to Darling Yasmin Gaspar, from Peru, with 6.5 points; the second locker was occupied Amelia Valentina Romero, from Ecuador, with 6; and third Jacqueline Ayme Maravifrom Peru, also with 6.
Gaspar in the ninth game was victorious against Micaela Acunafrom Peru.
The 14-year-old absolute category was dominated by Licael Roderick Ticonafrom Bolivia, who in the nine rounds completed 7.5 points; Jesus Andres Chilan, from Ecuador, with 6.5 was second; Y Juan Jacobo Bolanosfrom Colombia, also reached 6.5 units to finish third.
Maria Theresa Jimenez, from Peru, reached the title in the sub-14 ladies; the second place was occupied by Renata Gonzalez, from Paraguay; while Heidy Juradofrom Ecuador, with 6, finished third.
The absolute under-16 series was the only one where the champion reached the perfect score with the Peruvian Diego Saul Rodrigo Floreswhich in the nine games reached 9 points; Garry Hernandez, from Peru, with 7, was second; Y Franco Rodrigo Quirozfrom Peru, reached 6 to place third.
The sub-16 ladies had the Ecuadorian Analia Karen Miranda as the winner with 7.5 points; second place went to Emely Bachellet-Vega, from Peru, with 7 units; Y Andrea Ximena Tacosfrom Peru, also with 7, settled in third place.
Steve Javier Rojas, from Peru, with 7.5 won in absolute sub-18; while the Ecuadorian Anderson Jahir Esmeraldas, with 6.5 finished third; the second place was occupied by Ivan Varillasfrom Peru, with 7.
Finally, in women’s sub-18, Peru once again dominated the podium with Fiorella Diana Huamanwith 8 points, as first; kate azumiwith 7.5, second; Heidy Nicole Garcia, with 7.5 was third; and the Ecuadorian Ariana Ayala, with 6 units, she finished fourth. (D)
