President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner-Usmanova responded to the words of the Ukrainian gymnast Anna Rizatdinova about unfair competition from Russian rivals. She is quoted by Sport24.
“Ukraine has always lost to Russia and said that we are in first place in an unfair fight. Nothing new,” Viner-Usmanova said.
She also reacted to the words of Rizatdinova that she considers the victory of the Israeli Lina Ashram in the individual all-around at the Tokyo Games fair, since she was stronger than the Russian woman Dina Averina. “This is her purely personal opinion,” the coach emphasized.
On February 1, Rizatdinova said she was unhappy that Russian gymnasts make mistakes, but they get away with it. According to her, the Russians are one of the strongest gymnasts in the world, so they must compete honestly.
In August last year, the President of the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation and the coach of the country’s rhythmic gymnastics team, Irina Deryugina, accused Russia of the failures of Ukrainian athletes. According to her, Russians bribe judges at competitions and prevent Ukrainians from winning medals.
