Horngacher asked for the contest to be stopped. New details of the ski jumping war

If someone did not believe that an open technological war between members of individual national cadres was underway, now they will probably have to believe it. unleashed a storm that has virtually no chance of expiring before the Beijing Olympics.

Horngacher protested not only the equipment of Polish jumpers

On Saturday, Horngacher made an official protest regarding the. This was banned, and two players – Piotr Żyła and Stefan Hula – were excluded from the results of the first competition in Willingen. Their disqualification officially related to the too wide back wall of the shoes, and unofficially the fact that the Poles did not report the equipment to the FIS equipment subcommittee. After the second competition, however, there was also disqualification.

After another protest from Horngacher and two other staff members, the FIS equipment controller, whose skis, according to official measurements, turned out to be too wide. The hardware manufacturer Peter Slatnar disagreed with this.

Incredible, but still. Horngacher wanted to stop the competition in Willingen

The Slovenian told Sport.pl that in his opinion the error in the dimensions of the skis concerned a value less than 1 mm, which so far no one had picked on, and that the protest concerned not only Yukiya Sato’s skis, but all “flat skis” produced by his company – without curved tips. Slatnar also revealed an interesting detail about Stefan Horngacher’s protest – that he submitted it in the middle of the competition, after the first round. He also mentioned circumstances that were already so bizarre that we had to verify them in. And it is incredible, but it turned out to be true.

Horngacher, when reporting a protest in the first round, did not ask for the skis to be checked after the end of the competition. He wanted to stop the competition and measure all pairs of Slatnar’s skis immediately.

Even FIS equipment controller Mika Jukkara intervened here, who refused such an inspection and ordered that he check some of Slatnar’s skis after the competition. That was how he picked up the problem with Yukiya Sato’s, but the rest of the tested equipment complied with the regulations.

The FIS will check all the skis of the jumpers before the Olympics

What is the effect of Horngacher’s intervention on Sunday? Jukkara also decided to check all the skis in the field before the Olympics, already in.

The reaction of the coach of the German jumpers did not like the environment. We hear of many voices irritated by Horngacher’s actions. Most of the cadres expected peace and fully sporting competition in China, but we already know that it will be very difficult to achieve. And it may end with a long wait for the results, further protests, inspections or even lawsuits after the end of the competition.
