US KHL player who raped underage U.S. player charged

In the United States, the attacker of the Yaroslavl club Lokomotiv of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) Reid Bush was charged with raping a minor. It is reported by the Detroit Free Press.

The hockey player was sentenced to one year in prison on probation. He was placed on probation for four years.

Previously, the Canadian “Sarnia Sting”, where Boucher began his career, erased his mention from the history of the team. The Ontario Hockey League club issued a statement that the team did not know about the athlete’s involvement in such a crime. Sarnia Sting removed Boucher from the club’s list of record holders.

On December 13, 2021, Boucher admitted during a court hearing that he had raped a 12-year-old girl at the age of 17. The court went to meet the athlete, allowing him to apply for a lesser charge. Initially, he was charged with committing a sexual offense in the first degree, for which Bush faced up to 25 years in prison.

Boucher is known for his performances in the National Hockey League (NHL). The American played for the New Jersey Devils, Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks. As part of Omsk Avangard, he became the first US hockey player to win the Gagarin Cup.
