Four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov assessed the prospects for Russian athletes at the 2022 Winter Games. It is reported by Metaratings.ru.
According to the athlete, biathletes have a good chance of winning medals, but it is important for coaches not to overload them at the final stage of preparation. At the same time, Tikhonov did not specify how many specific awards the Russians can win.
Tikhonov also spoke about the importance of a positive attitude among both fans and athletes. “So you can’t say that we will come from Beijing with nothing, we must believe in our own,” he added.
The Beijing Olympics will be held from 4 to 20 February. Biathletes will play 11 sets of awards, they will fight for medals on February 5. Only four Russian biathletes were allowed to participate in the previous Games in Pyeongchang. They failed to win medals.
