Members of the sports delegation of Belarus at the Olympic Games in Beijing are allowed to communicate with a limited number of journalists. About the tightened rules of communication writes “Match TV” with reference to the source.
According to the channel, Belarusian Olympians will be able to give interviews only to media representatives who have been accredited by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the country.
The Beijing Olympic Games will be held from 4 to 20 February. 29 Belarusian athletes will compete for the medals of the competition.
In August last year, the NOC of Belarus expelled track and field athlete Kristina Timanovskaya from the national team at the Tokyo Olympics. They tried to deport her to Minsk after she criticized the country’s sports leadership. Thanks to the intervention of the International Olympic Committee, the Belarusian athlete flew to Poland, where she received political asylum.
