Polish jumpers disqualified in Willingen! Horngacher and the Germans protested

The competition’s prologue poured hope into the hearts of the fans of Polish jumpers. He turned out to be the best then, and apart from him, three were in the top ten. The fans’ hopes were shattered in the competition. Blown up literally, because in Willingen the cards were handed out by the wind.

Polish jumpers did not cope with the difficult conditions. Ultimately, only three of them made it into the top 30. The best of them was 14th (130 meters). He was 22nd (115.5 meters), and Dawid Kubacki was 28th (112.5 meters). The next places were taken by Paweł Wąsek and. After all, only one series was played in Willingen. Weather conditions did not allow for more – strong wind and rain. – It was absurd – Eurosport reporters emphasized live.

The sad jubilee of Piotr Żyła

As if that was not enough, the Polish jumpers received one more blow. Two of them were disqualified. It is also Piotr Żyła and Stefan Hula. In both cases, it was about unregulated shoes. This is particularly sad news for ¯y³a, for whom the competition in Willingen was the number 300 in the World Cup competition. Apart from them, the Russian Aleksandr Bażenow was also disqualified. However, he found out about the disqualification during the competition.

– Stefan Horngacher and the Germans paid 500 francs on Friday (needed to file an official complaint) and reported us to the FIS, in connection with our new shoes, which the Poles took out on Friday. They were a bit different, they were eye-catching. And Horngacher said yesterday in the hotel that Poles have illegal equipment. Specifically, it was about the lack of notification of shoe modifications to FIS. Although it is not clearly established in the law what and when to report. But when the official protest was received, the FIS had to check it – writes Piotr Majchrzak from Sport.pl.

The disqualification, however, is hellishly strange, because the regulations only say that the shoes must not be more than 2 centimeters from the foot. In our case, the back wall of the shoe was a bit narrower than in standard shoes. It is not forbidden, but theoretically you have to report it to the FIS in advance. You have to, although nobody actually does it, and there is no official catalog of changes that need to be reported. There is no, but it will be – announces the FIS.

However, you can hear that the new boots of our jumpers and the great Friday jumps did not like the rivals who started reporting us to the equipment controller. And this one today disqualified two Poles.

On Sunday, Poles will take part in the last competition before in Beijing. Qualifying for the competition will start at 1.30 PM, which is scheduled for 3.15 PM. Live coverage on Sport.pl and the Sport.pl LIVE mobile application.
