Venezuela’s win against Bolivia is “a good example of what we can do in the future,” says José Néstor Pékerman

The Argentine strategist made his debut at the helm of the Vinotinto, which aims its efforts beyond Qatar 2022, an appointment for which it can no longer qualify.

The coach of the Venezuelan soccer team, José Néstor Pékerman, said that Vinotinto’s victory against Bolivia 4-1 on Friday, for the South American qualifiers for Qatar 2022, shows the potential that his team has and what they can do “in the future”.

“For us the game was going to be difficult, we prepared ourselves for that and I think the performance was adequate to sustain the rhythm that was had, the teamwork where everyone collaborated to have scoring options, to defend, to organize. They all complemented each other and gave a good example of what we can do in the future”, said the Argentine coach.

Friday’s match marked Pékerman’s debut in charge of Venezuela after a turbulent stage in which the Portuguese José Peseiro resigned after almost a year without receiving his salary and an interim direction of the Venezuelan Leonardo González.

Faced with this and despite being eliminated from Qatar 2022, Pékerman asked “to believe in this project” because, “in the future”, they are going to “put all the effort”.

I think a good game was played and it is an indication that we have committed players.”, he commented before highlighting the “work team” that accompanies the selection.

That team, he pointed out, was multiplied so that they could have everything they needed during the previous concentration and “to start in this way.”

“The team sought to play an important game, knowing that it is a rival that was within the possibilities of adding and getting closer to being the protagonist of the tie (…) I came with high morale because Bolivia’s last games were good, they scored a lot of points and the expectations were very high”, he added.
