The National Civil Service Authority (Servir) exhorted the heads, general secretaries and managers of public entities of all country to prioritize the application of remote work for civil servants whose functions are compatible with this type of work, taking into account the provisions of Emergency Decree No. 115-2021.

This after the agency found that as of December 31, 2021, only 29% of public workers performed remote work in contravention of worker health protection and welfare policies presented by the Government.

In this sense, Servir pointed out through Multiple Official Letter No. 001-2022-SERVIR-GDSRH that “it is up to public entities to manage the application of these measures within a framework that ensures the continuity of public services in the short, medium long term; while safeguarding the health of civil servants and their families.”

Given this, he emphasized that only in positions where remote work is not possible, Servir recommends the application of other measures, such as mixed work modalities, exceptional variation of functions, labor cooperation or paid leave. subject to subsequent compensation for the COVID-19 risk group

Finally, the document sent by Servir highlights that it is up to the head of the entities to lead the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, especially in those entities where face-to-face work is carried out.
