The incident occurred after the defeat of Shcherbakov by technical knockout in a duel with Maxim Novoselov. The conflict with the assistant organizers and the former mentor occurred in the locker room. At first, the men sorted things out in a raised tone, and after that everything turned into a fight. As a result of the conflict, the boxer received a broken nose and a concussion.
According to the coach, the ex-ward himself provoked a fight. “Maybe a person had a lot of aggression after the fight. The man behaved inadequately after the battle. I acted purely on the basis of personal security,” said Karmazyan. He added that after the fight he talked with the boxer, and the conflict was settled.
In May 2021, in Lyubertsy near Moscow, boxing coach Yevgeny Gerasimov beat the ward and his father for refusing to train. Gerasimov, who is one of the organizers of the club, persistently tried to become an athlete’s coach, but he refused. At the meeting, he broke the boxer’s father’s jaw. The young athlete, who tried to stand up for a relative, also received bodily injuries.
