Brazilian defender Marcelo Guedes, who on Wednesday ended his contract with Lyon – where he played for four and a half years – has committed for six months to Bordeaux, the club announced on Friday.
Marcelo, 34, has a lot of experience in Ligue 1 and that’s what Bordeaux were looking for in the center of their defense, which is the worst this season in the French league (53 goals conceded).

He started his career at Santos, before continuing in Europe with Wisla Krakow, PSV Eindhoven, Hannover and Besiktas. The defender arrived at Lyon in 2017.
Marcelo was dropped from Lyon’s professional group in August after a 3-0 defeat at Angers for “inappropriate behavior”.
He was relegated to the B team of National 2 (4th division), where he contributed to the good results of this team, third in its group.
Marcelo Guedes had a contract until 2023 with Lyon, but this week there was an agreement for his departure and he goes free to Bordeaux.
