Opponent called Medvedev immature after his conflict with the referee in the AO semi-final

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas assessed the conflict between Russian Daniil Medvedev and the referee in the semifinals of the Australian Open. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Tsitsipas called the opponent who shouted at the judge not the most mature person. “It’s definitely funny. I don’t pay attention to such things, because I know that some athletes do this to confuse you. It could be a tactic,” the Greek explained.

Tsitsipas admitted that he tried to ask his father to stop prompting from the stands during matches. “When he is involved in something, he cannot be stopped. This is what it does by nature. I talked to him about it, I spent a huge amount of time trying to explain everything to him, but this is part of him, ”said the tennis player.

Earlier, on January 28, Medvedev defeated Tsitsipas and reached the final of the Australian Open. The meeting ended with the score 7:6, 4:6, 6:4, 6:1 in favor of the Russian. In the final, Medvedev will meet Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

During the semi-finals, Medvedev got into a skirmish with the referee. The incident occurred in the second set with the score 4:5 in favor of Tsitsipas. Medvedev was outraged that the Greek’s father was telling him from the stands. “His dad can talk at every prank? Are you dumb? Can his father talk all the time? Will you answer my question? Look at me! I’m telling you!” Medvedev turned to the judge.

Serb Novak Djokovic is the current winner of the tournament. He is not taking part in the current draw due to deportation from Australia.
