International competition takes place in one of the halls of the Sheraton hotel and will be played until next Saturday.
The teams of Ecuador, in five categories, and Peru, in seven, command the locations, played two rounds, of the twelve categories of the South American Chess Championship, which takes place in one of the rooms of the Sheraton hotel, in Guayaquil.
The competition was supposed to take place in December of last year and, due to the coronavirus pandemic, COVID-19, it was postponed to this date.
In the tournament, Peru leads the places in the sub-8 women and absolute categories, with Ghaydaa Mandujano Y Josef Aran, respectively, who in the two rounds add two points.
In the under-10 ladies, first place goes to Yolanda Vargas, from Ecuador; and in the absolute is in the lead Alexander Sozolanga, also from Ecuador, with two points.
Darling Gaspar, from Peru, is the leader, with two units, in the sub-12 ladies category; while the asboluta series is commanded by the Ecuadorian Andres Ubilluz.
Teresa Jimenez, also from Peru and with two points, is first in the women’s sub-14 category; while, in the absolute, the first place is occupied by Jesus Chilan, from Ecuador.
The 16-year series is dominated by two Peruvian representatives: Bachellet Vega is the leader among the ladies and Saul Rodrigo Flores in the absolute series.
For its part, Daiana Fiorella Contreras, from Peru, is the leader by adding two points in the sub-18 ladies; while Anderson Esmeraldas, from Ecuador, also with two units, commands the absolute 18th.
Second round results
The results that were recorded in the second round of the sub-16 ladies category are these: Karina Paola Martinez, from Ecuador, defeated Milka Beltrán, from Bolivia; while Bachellet Vega, from Peru, beat Andrea Ximena Tacas, from Peru; Analia Karen Miranda, from Ecuador, to Arlette Sabina Guerrero, from Ecuador; Gabriella Salazar, from Peru, to Jhusdely Chuquilin, from Peru; Stephanie Rodriguez, from Ecuador, to Cielito de los Milagros Juárez, from Peru.
In the absolute under-18 the results were: Diego Wong, from Ecuador, defeated Javier Rojas, from Peru; Yahir Emeralds, from Ecuador, to César Viscaíno, from Ecuador; Alejandro Mathias Sanchez, from Peru, to Manuel Barrantes, from Peru; Henry Daniel Titichoca, from Bolivia, to Martín Salgado, from Ecuador; Danny Calderon, from Ecuador, to Josué Quinde, from Ecuador.
