Russian gymnast Angelina Melnikova won the individual all-around at the World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan. The correspondent of “Lenta.ru” informs about it.
21-year-old Melnikova took first place with a score of 56.632 points. The second was American Leanne Wong (56.340 points), the third – her compatriot Kayla Dichello (54.566 points). Another Russian woman Vladislava Urazova showed the fourth result (53.598 points).
The victory in this discipline was the first for Russian gymnasts since 2010. Then the world championship was won by Aliya Mustafina.
On October 19, Melnikova took first place in the qualification. She reached the final with a score of 57.065 points.
Melnikova is the Olympic champion of the Tokyo Games in the team all-around. She also won bronze medal in individual all-around and in floor exercise.
