Rafael Leao is a pupil of Sporting Lisboa, in the colors of which he played in 2009-2018. After the mass termination of contracts, Sporting decided to fight for compensation. At the outset, the Lions demanded compensation from Leao in the amount of 45 million euros – this amount was entered as a redemption clause. The court in March 2020 set a compensation of EUR 16.5 million.

Leao then appealed against this judgment, but it did not bring the expected result. Thus, the Milan winger was only appealed to the Supreme in Lisbon. If the sentence is upheld, Rafael Leao will have to compensate for the unlawful and unilateral termination of the contract. Currently, the Portuguese international earns 1.5 million euros in Milan for the season.

Rafael Leao after leaving Sporting Lisbon moved to Milan, from which he left after one season for EUR 29.5 million. he played in 97 games of the runner-up in all competitions, in which he scored 21 goals and recorded 14 assists.
