Gambia beats Guinea to advance to the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations

In the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations, the Gambia team beat Guinea 1-0, with a goal from Musa Barrow, and advanced to the next stage of the competition. The match took place this Monday at Kouekong Stadium. Now, the Gambia team will face Cameroon, which beat Comoros.

Gambia opened the scoring only in the 26th minute of the second half with Musa Barrow, who received from Yusupha Bobb and finished well to put his team ahead.

The knockout match also featured one expulsion for each side in the final minutes. Gambian Yusupha Njie received two yellow cards in a 13-minute break and had to leave the pitch. In stoppage time, Ibrahima Conte was also sent off for receiving the second yellow card.

Also on Monday, the Cameroon team beat Comoros 2-1 and secured a spot in the quarterfinals.

The duel has already started with expulsion in the Comoros team. In the 7th minute, Nadjim Abdou received a red card after committing a dangerous foul. After checking the VAR, the referee sent the player off.

At 29, Ekambi opened the scoring for Cameroon. Aboubakar crossed for the Cameroonian number 12, who kicked to score the first goal of the match.

In the second half, Aboubakar extended it to the Cameroonians in the 25th minute. Martin Hongla crossed and the shirt 10 kicked low to make it 2-0. Minutes before, the referee ruled out a goal by Aboubakar for offside.

At 36, Comoros closed the gap with a goal from Youssouf M’Changama. In a free kick, shirt 10 sent it straight to swing the nets. Finally, the duel ended with a 2-1 victory for the Cameroonian team.
