Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova questioned the mental health of the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Gutsait. This is how she, in an interview with Sport-Express, assessed the official’s ban for Ukrainians to stand next to the Russians at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
“Then he needs to have a serious check-up with a psychiatrist and be placed in places not so remote. He definitely should not be allowed to the governing processes, ”said Tarasova.
She also noted that Russian skaters have always communicated well with Ukrainian ones. “We do not separate Germans, Americans, Japanese or Ukrainians. For us, they are all equal, ”said the coach.
Earlier on Monday, January 24, Gutzeit revealed the details of the briefing held for Ukrainians going to Beijing. “They should not stand side by side when athletes from Russia stand with a flag. For them not to be together. They should know this,” the official stressed. The 2022 Games in Beijing will be held from 4 to 20 February.
