Canadian figure skater Gabrielle Daleman spoke about the injuries of the students of the Russian specialist Eteri Tutberidze. It is reported by “Sport-Express”.
She advised athletes not to neglect recovery. “If everything is very bad, even if it’s scary to tell your coach, parents, and even yourself about the injury, take a rest anyway,” Daleman said.
The Canadian emphasized that unhealed injuries provoke new injuries. “If you don’t recover, you won’t be able to train normally,” she added.
Three figure skaters of the Tutberidze group – Daria Usacheva, Alexandra Trusova and Alena Kostornaya – were injured this season. Because of this, Usacheva and Kostornaya could not take part in the Russian championship and lost their chance to compete at the Olympics.
Daleman is the 2018 Olympic champion in team competition. She is Canada’s first substitute for the 2022 Beijing Games.
