Joshua pulls out of Usyk fight for millions of euros

British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua may refuse a rematch with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk. It is reported by The Telegraph.

According to the source, the athlete agreed not to fight for a release in the amount of 15 million pounds (17.9 million euros). In this case, Usyk will be able to fight Briton Tyson Fury for the title of absolute world heavyweight boxing champion.

The victory over Joshua by unanimous decision last year allowed Usyk to become the world champion in four prestigious versions: the World Boxing Association (WBA), the International Boxing Federation (IBF), the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and the International Boxing Organization (IBO). The fight took place on 25 September.

For the title of absolute world champion, the Ukrainian lacks one belt – according to the World Boxing Council (WBC). Fury currently holds the title. The Brit’s next opponent should be mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte.
