Burkina Faso and Tunisia qualify and will be opponents in the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations

The knockout stage has arrived and two games opened the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations this Sunday. Burkina Faso qualified against Gabon on penalties 7-6 after a 1-1 draw, while Tunisia passed Nigeria 1-0.

In the first duel, many yellow cards marked the game, especially at the beginning of the first half. After a VAR check, Burkina Faso had a penalty, but Traoré, shirt number 10 of the team, did not score. At 28, he was rewarded by scoring a goal. At the end of the first half, Boupendza equalized for Gabon, but VAR ruled it out.

During the second stage, more cards, so much so that Obissa received the second yellow card and left the Gaboneses with one less card. But in the 46th minute, Guira scored against and Gabon got their equalizer. During extra time, Tapsoba even celebrated, but his goal was disallowed for offside and Burkina Faso did not lead the score.

Tie 1-1 in normal time and overtime. In the penalty shootout, after nine kicks from each side, Burkina Faso got the better and is qualified for the quarter-finals.

In the second game of the day, the first half was not very busy. But two minutes into the second half, Msakni opened the scoring for the Tunisians. The game heated up when in the 21st minute Iwobi was sent off. So, with all the players on the field, Tunisia scored early in the second half with Youssef Msakni, won 1-0 and qualified for the next phase.
