It’s been over three weeks since Kamil Stoch’s last start in the competition. The ski jumping team leader last appeared on January 1, when he jumped in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the 4-Hills-Tournament. A few days later, Stoch did not make it through qualifying in Innsbruck and was withdrawn from the competition.
The Pole was to return to jumping last weekend during the World Cup in Zakopane. However, Stoch did not appear on the hill, because a few days earlier he suffered a serious ankle contusion. This weekend, during the World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt Stoch, just like the other competitors called up for the Olympic Games in Beijing, he did not start. Anyway, an injury would have prevented him from doing so.
Stoch goes back to jumping
Everything indicates, however, that we will see the Pole next weekend, when the jumpers will be jumping in Willingen. On Sunday evening, the Polish Ski Association announced the composition of the Polish team that will fight for World Cup points in the next German competition.
Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, Paweł Wąsek and Stefan Hula will be jumping in Willingen. There is also a chance that Piotr ¯y³a will appear in Germany, having obtained a positive test for coronavirus a few days ago.
“At Titisee-Neustadt, Director Adam Ma³ysz talked to FIS representatives. The FIS regulations have changed. The vein must pass 8 days of quarantine (previously it was 14 days), and then obtain a negative COVID-19 test result” – we read in the PZN release.
The competition in Willingen will be the last test before the Olympic Games in Beijing.
