After Spain’s victories over Russia (26:25) and Sweden over Poland (28:18) in the second round of the second stage of the European championship, two teams that had defeated the Polish national team high in the previous days met in the evening. The Germans defeated the Poles 30:23, and Norway threw them a record 42 goals, losing 31 of them.
Weakened Germany helpless. Norway is closer to the semi-finals
The Germans at this tournament have huge problems with the coronavirus and while the Poles managed to collect the winning squad, against Spain on Thursday (23:29) and Norway on Friday, Alfred Gislson’s team was practically helpless.
An even fight between the Germans and the Norwegians lasted more or less until the end of the first half, which the Scandinavians won 14:12. From the beginning of the second part of the game, the advantage of Norway, which had this meeting under control, for a long time fluctuated between three and four goals.
And when in the middle of the second 30 minutes the Norwegians managed to jump by five hits (22:17), it became practically clear that they would score another two points in this championship. In the end the Germans won probably 28:23 and now they are in the second place in the group II table.
The hero of the Norwegian national team was Erik Toft, who scored as many as seven goals. Sebastian Barthold and the biggest star of the Norwegian team, Sander Sagosen, added four. For the Germans, Johannes Golla, who scored four goals, was the most successful.
The situation in the “Polish group” is extremely fierce. Spain is in the lead with a full six points, followed closely by Norway and Sweden with four points. The teams of Russia and Germany, who scored two points, are also not without a chance for the semi-finals. Poland closes the table without a point in the second phase of the tournament.
In the next round, which will be played on Sunday, Poland will play against Russia (15.30), Germany against Sweden (18.00) and Spain against Norway (20.30).
