Gerard Piqué gives FC Barcelona the first victory in the Champions League

In a match with few emotions, the Catalan team beat Dynamo Kiev by the minimum at the Camp Nou.

The FC Barcelona won again in the Champions League when he needed it most by beating Dinamo Kiev 1-0, this Wednesday at the Camp Nou, and thus adding his first three points in this edition of the top European tournament.

A goal from Gerard Piqué (36) gave a necessary victory to the Catalans, who are placed with 3 points in the third position of group E, provisionally one point behind Benfica (4 units), which is measured at the leader of the key, Bayern Munich (6 points) this Wednesday.

The Barça team came to this meeting without the right to fail after reaping two defeats in their first two European meetings, which had left them last in the group without any points.

“We are risking our future in this Champions League,” coach Ronald Koeman had said the day before, and his team seemed to jump onto the Camp Nou pitch, gripped by responsibility and was slow to give dynamism to their game.

Barça soon took the reins of the game against a Dinamo, now bottom of the group (1 point), who closed ranks behind to try to surprise the counterattack.

Barcelona did not stop hovering around the opposite area, but had to wait until minute 38 for Gerard Piqué to finish off a cross from the left by Jordi Alba (38).

After the break, Dinamo tried to advance lines and press the exit of the Barça ball a little higher, but Barça managed to get out of the pressure well, although without being able to finish closing the game.

Koeman tried to put a little more gunpowder on the field with the entry of Sergio Agüero (75), who debuted with the Barça shirt in the Champions League, under a round of applause from the stands of the Camp Nou.

The Argentine forward, still in the process of adaptation, could not contribute much in the last minutes of the match, in which Barça tried to sleep the game until the final whistle. (D)
