Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Alexander Volkov will fight Englishman Tom Aspinall at UFC Fight Night 204 in London. This was announced to ESPN by promotion president Dana White.
The tournament will take place on March 19 and will be the first UFC event in London since 2019. The fight between Volkov and Aspinella is called the main event of the evening. Initially, Aspinall’s opponent was supposed to be another Russian, Shamil Abdurahimov, but the UFC decided to change the opponent for the main fight.
The 33-year-old Volkov has 34 wins and nine losses in mixed martial arts. In the last fight, the Russian defeated the Pole Marcin Tybura at the UFC 267 tournament in Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining the UFC, he competed in the M-1 Challenge and Bellator. In both organizations, Volkov became the heavyweight champion.
Aspinall, 28, has 11 wins and two losses. He has won all four fights in the UFC.
