The Mexican Moreno expressed his emotion when asked about the Ecuadorian welterweight during the Media Day of UFC 270.
Anaheim (California), UNITED STATES
The current champion of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) flyweight division, Brandon Moreno, highlighted this Wednesday at the UFC 270 Media Day the short-term evolution of the Ecuadorian fighter Michael Morales (12-0 MMA) and his outstanding athletic condition .
In his turn in the dialogue with the media during the day that takes place in a room of the Hilton Anaheim hotel, the Mexican Moreno expressed his emotion when asked about the tricolor welterweight who on Saturday will become the third Ecuadorian fighter to go up to the UFC cage.
“Ecuador…! Come on, Michael Morales!” Moreno said, while confessing to being “very happy” to train with Ecuadorian athletes at the Entram Gym in his native Tijuana.
Asked by EL UNIVERSO about whether he has enriched his technique with the strengths of the fighters from Ecuador, Moreno pointed out: “I understand the fact that, for example, fighters from outside of Mexico, from Latin America, come here to Entram as a (gym ) benchmark and a place where they can evolve their skills to one day make it to the UFC like Michael just did. But also one of the things that makes the team very strong is that we use the experience, the skills that the different athletes bring: Michael, Aarón (Cañarte), César (Abad) and other Ecuadorians (the brothers Andrés and Adrián Luna Martinetti) who they are in Entram training very hard”.
In addition, The Assassin Baby Moreno highlighted the growth of Morales since he arrived in Tijuana in February 2021, along with Cañarte and Abad.
“I am very happy for Michael, look how far he has come… He came to Entram and in a few months he got the opportunity in Dana White’s Contender Series, then he jumped to the UFC, that makes me very happy for him.”
Regarding the tricolor’s fight against the American Trevin Giles (14-3-0 MMA, 5-3 UFC), Moreno predicts “a very good night” for his Ecuadorian colleague.
“He is a very athletic person, he is a born athlete, and I think he has the right mindset as well. That will help him a lot this Saturday”, concluded the UFC flyweight monarch, who will star in the co-main event of UFC 270 defending his title against Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo.
The UFC 270 function will take place this Saturday, January 22, at the Honda Center in Anaheim (California). Morales’ fight against Giles was scheduled in the preliminaries stage. (D)
