UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin arrived in Paraguay on Wednesday to ratify his alliance with CONMEBOL to organize future ventures, the South American sports organization said.
The European football director attended a meeting with the Conmebol board and was expected to attend a celebration for the six years of management of the South American entity’s representative, the Paraguayan Alejandro Domínguez.
Ceferin arrived accompanied by his vice-presidents Sandor Csanyl and Fernando Gomes and the head of football at UEFA, former player Zvonimir Boban.
The European and South American leaders reviewed the issues related to the strategic alliance that the two organizations have been consolidating since February 2020.
The leaders of the entities signed the alliance document that year, which was expanded last December. Among their first effects, they combined a duel between the last champions gives European Championship (Italy) e America Cup (Argentina) to be played in London on the 1st of June. It was also decided to install a joint headquarters in the English capital.
Ceferin and Domínguez analyzed the activities that will be entrusted to the new joint office in London, including the organization of future football events.
