The Tour of the Basque Country of 2022 will take place from April 4 to 9, and the starting and finishing points of all the stages are already known.
In this way, the 61st edition of the test will give its starting signal in Hondarribia with a time trial. Last year the town of Gipuzkoa witnessed the very exciting end of the fourth stage, where Ion Izagirre and Pello Bilbao maintained a very close fight in search of stage victory. Finally it was the cyclist from Ormaiztegi who took the glory.
The next day, April 5, the entire stage will run along Navarran roads starting at Leitza and ending in Viana. It will be the fifth time Tour I arrived at Viana as a final destination of a day. The previous time was in 2010, where Alejandro Valverde won ahead of Oscar Freire.
The race will jump from Navarra to Álava on the third day, on April 6, on a route that will link Amurrio Y llodio, as happened in the last edition. On that occasion, the Slovenians Tadej Pogacar Y Primoz Roglic they offered a fantastic show from which he emerged the winner the champion of the last two editions of the Tour de France to which both one and the other have advanced that they will also be present in this edition.
The development of the fourth stage of the test will take the cyclists from Álava to Bizkaia, since the participants will leave Vitoria-Gasteiz and arrive in Zamudio, where the fifth stage will also start, which will have another Biscayan town as its goal: Mallabia.
Finally, the sixth day, as usual, will have the high of Arrate as a great climax to the race. This time the day will have Eibar as the setting for the first pedal strokes of the day. The final stage of the last edition was a show in which Frenchman Gaudu took the victory, while Roglic took advantage of it to win the final victory for Itzulia.
