In just over five years, Szpilka fought eight fights, four of which he lost. Most importantly, each of these duels was against a serious rival: Adam Kownacki, Dereck Chisora and Różański.
After the last defeat, speculations about the future of Szpilka in boxing resumed. Many experts and journalists pointed out that the 32-year-old will not achieve anything serious in this discipline. At the same time, it was suggested that Szpilka could try his hand at.
The fighter did not refer to his future for a long time. Especially that in the fight against Różański, he suffered a knee injury and decided to undergo surgery only at the end of last year.
Szpilka confirmed the fight in MMA
– If I don’t feel hungry for boxing, I won’t go back to boxing at all. My first fight back 99 percent will not be a boxing fight. It will most likely be an MMA duel with a boxer – Szpilka suggested in an interview with Interia in December.
Now, in an interview with the “To jest boxing” channel, the boxer confirmed that he would try his hand at a different formula. – I took offense at boxing. Currently I am not boxing, I will come back to MMA – admitted Szpilka. For now, it is not known for which federation the 32-year-old will fight. Szpilka was combined with KSW, although Fame MMA may also be involved.
Szpilka fought 29 fights in professional rings. His record is 24 wins and five losses. The 32-year-old is a former contender for the WBC world heavyweight title. In January 2016, however, Szpilka lost by a heavy knockout to Wilder in the 9th round. Since then, his career has collapsed.
