After Rafa Benitez’s departure, Everton will be coached on an interim basis in the next games

After departure of Rafa Benitez on Sunday, Everton announced that they will be coached by interim manager Duncan Ferguson for upcoming games. He, by the way, already commanded the first activity on Tuesday.

Ferguson will also be joined by former players John Ebbrell and Leighton Baines. The first, a former midfielder, defended the club between 1986 and 1997. The second, a former left-back, wore the team’s shirt between 2007 and 2020. In addition to them, goalkeeper coach Alan Kelly will also be part of the coaching staff .

This is the second time Ferguson has managed Everton. In December 2019, after the departure of Marco Silva, the Scotsman was on the edge of the field on four occasions. On the occasion, the Toffees won the Chelsea, tied with Arsenal e Manchester United and lost to Leicester City. After the short period, Carlo Ancelotti, currently in Real Madrid, was hired.

Everton is not doing well in the 2021/22 season: it occupies the 16th position of the Premier League after 19 games and adds 19 points. The team returns to the field on Saturday, at 9:30 am (Brasília time), when they host Aston Villa.
