Bolivian national team accumulates eight cases of covid before duels in the Qualifiers

The Bolivian football team reported this Monday two new cases of covid-19, in addition to another six registered in recent days, less than two weeks before the matches against Venezuela and Chile, for the South American qualifiers for the World Cup. of Qatar World.

The medical staff of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) announced in a statement that “two positive cases were detected, players Bruno Miranda and Daniel Vaca, who are asymptomatic”, with “low viral load”.

The FBF reported that the disease was also detected in the steering wheel Alexis Ribera and in a member of the medical department.

Club Bolivar, one of the most popular in the country, had reported over the weekend that five of its players called up to the national team had tested positive for Covid-19. In total, eight players from the club, which is the greatest Bolivian champion, had been called up by the national team.

Faced with the casualties caused by the disease, coach César Farías had called up three other players: César Menacho and Carlos Áñez, from Jorge Wilstermann, and Daniel Vaca, a historic goalkeeper for The Strongest, who also tested positive today.

Now, this Monday, Farías called up three other players, all from the current Bolivian champion, Independiente Petrolero: defender Emerson Velásquez and midfielders Yesit Martínez and William Velasco.

The team led by Farías is in eighth position in the Qualifying table, with 15 points in 14 games, just ahead of Paraguay (13) and Venezuela (7).

In the next round of Qualifiers, the Bolivian team faces Venezuela away from home on January 28, and receives Chile, at the altitude of La Paz, on February 2.
