La Liga director highlights Vinicius Jr. and says: “The best Brazilians played here”

This Monday, Oscar Mayo, marketing director of La Liga, the organization that manages the Spanish Championship, gave a press conference that marks the five years since the beginning of the tournament’s internationalization process.

On the relationship with Brazil, the manager highlighted Vinicius Jr., who has been one of the highlights of the current season with Real Madrid. He also stated that “there is a bond built” with the country, as the “best Brazilians” played in Spain, remembering Neymar and Daniel Alves for Barcelona.

“Players open the doors to these markets. In the case of Brazil, it’s easier because, traditionally, the best Brazilians played in La Liga, there’s a bond built, the fans of Brazil already follow because the best players were here. An opportunity like Vinicius’ make us be very relevant there and even more with the performance he’s having this year. Before him we had players like Neymar and Alves, the best Brazilian players are and were here in La Liga”, highlighted the director.

It is worth remembering, in addition to Vinicius Jr., Real Madrid has Rodrygo, Casemiro and Marcelo in the current squad, and has already had players like Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo Fenômeno. Barcelona was also home to athletes like Ronaldinho Gaúcho and Romario.

In the current season, Vinicius Jr. took the field 28 times for Real Madrid, scored 15 goals and provided nine assists. It has been forming a lethal duo with Karim Benzema in the merengue attack and becoming a constant name in the calls of coach Tite in the Brazilian National Team.
